Nine nurse practitioner students from the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) programs, along with faculty from the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at ������Ƶ Atlantic University, recently returned from a service trip to Guatemala through the college’s ongoing partnership with (NHI), a nurse-led community health organization serving rural and Indigenous populations.

The team worked in San Juan Alotenango and Los Jometes, Chimaltenango, expanding access to primary and women’s health care. In San Juan Alotenango, they provided care to 121 patients in the general clinic and 26 in the women’s clinic, including one thermal ablation procedure to treat a precancerous cervical lesion. In Los Jometes, they saw 199 patients in the general clinic and 39 in the women’s clinic.

“Traveling to Guatemala with our outstanding ������Ƶ Atlantic nurse practitioner students was both a privilege and a profound reminder of why we chose this profession,” said Dr. Nancy Harris, who leads the program. “Their clinical excellence, compassion, and cultural humility honored the trust placed in us by the communities we served. It was truly an honor to work alongside the people of Guatemala.”
