The Anne Boykin Institute will host its 2026 Summer Academy from May 27–29, offering an immersive interprofessional dialogue focused on the theme, Caring at the Edge of Chaos: Transforming Interprofessional Practice and Healthcare.

Held at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing and virtually, the Academy invites members of all healthcare professions to engage in a two-and-a-half-day experience centered on the role of caring in navigating complex healthcare environments and advancing meaningful change.

The program will open with Tim Porter-O’Grady , co-author of Quantum Leadership: Building Better Partnerships for Sustainable Health , who will lead reflections on leadership in challenging times. Following the opening session, participants will take part in guided dialogue exploring caring-based participation and its potential to transform practice and systems.

Organizers emphasize that the Summer Academy is not a traditional conference. Participation is intentionally limited to support deep engagement, and all attendees, whether joining in person or online, are expected to actively contribute to the dialogue. Each participant will receive a Structured Improvisational Plan to help guide preparation and participation, while evocateurs will facilitate discussion through questions and shared inquiry. No formal presentations are included.

As part of the experience, artist-in-residence Thomas Hyatt will create space for aesthetic representations of caring in interprofessional practice.

The Academy will conclude with participants developing concrete plans for projects and initiatives to advance change in healthcare and beyond.
